Manufacture of thin austenite stainless-steel sheet
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce a pickling time and to manufacture a steel sheet free from intergranular corrosion by mechanically descaling a slab without annealing the slab after hot rolling it, and successively preheating it to perform its pickling by using a pickling liquid having specific composition before cold rolling it, in manufacturing a thin austenite stainless-steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:A slab of 18Cr-8Ni type austenite stainless steel is hot rolled and then, it is taken up into a hot coil at the temperature of <=650 deg.C. The hot coil is subjected to mechanical descaling treatment such as shot blasting, mill scale cooling, or a spraying of high-pressure water containing sand and iron granules. Next, the surface of steel sheet is preheated to 40-150 deg.C by using hot water or an aqueous solution containing neutral salt, before spray-pickling or dip-pickling the steel sheet by using a mixed liquid of 20-200g/l HNO3 and 15- 100g/l HF or a mixed liquid of 20-200g/l HNO3, 20-200g/l HCl, and a 30- 250g/l ferric salt of Fe(NO3)2 or FeCl3, etc.; and then the sheet is cold rolled into a thin sheet.
