Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To impart extremely high gas permeability, in a gas permeable membrane for concentrating and separating oxygen by drying a membrane comprising substituted polyacetylene through the contact with lower alcohol. CONSTITUTION:A membrane comprising either one of 1-substituted polyacetylene or 2-substituted polyacetylene having an atom or group selected from a group comprising a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a halogenated alkyl group, a phenyl group and an organosilyl group as a substituent or both of them is used alone or in combination with a porous substrate to be contacted with lower alcohol not solubilizing polyacetylene such as methanol or ethanol and dried to obtain a gas permeable membrane showing the almost the same permeable characteristic as that inherent to the material.
