Magnetic disc recording and reproducing device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To increase considerably the recording capacity by arranging two read/write gaps at the same azimuth angle in directions opposite to each other and setting the pitch to an odd-fold length of the gap width and setting the movement unit to the two-fold length of the gap width. CONSTITUTION:Read/write gaps 11a and 11b of a magnetic head 11 are arranged at the same azimuth angle theta in directions opposite to each other with respect to the X direction. The pitch of gaps 11a and 11b is set to an odd-fold (the three- fold) length of a gap width W, and a movement pitch P1 of a gimbals 4C in the X direction is set to the two-fold length of the gap width W. Thus, since the azimuth recording system is adopted, guard bands for crosstalk prevention are unnecessary, and the storage capacity is considerably increased to the 1.7-fold value of a conventional storage capacity.
