Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled material having excellent reliability in the water resistance and chemical resistance of an image, suitable for high speed recording and having high sensitivity, constituted by containing a zirconium compound in the water soluble polymer protective layer provided on a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal color forming layer containing a leuco dye (e.g., 3-N-ethyl-N-acylamino-6-methyl-7-anilinofluorane) and a coupler (e.g., bisphenol A) is provided on a support such as high grade paper and a water soluble polymer protective layer is provided on said color forming layer, a zirconium compound [e.g., Na2ZrSiO5, ZrOCl2.8H2O, ZrOSO4.nH2O, ZrO(NO3)2.4H2O, ZrO(CO3)2.nH2O, ZrO(OH)2. nH2O or ZrO(C2H3 O2)2, (NH4)2ZrO(CO3)2] is contained in said protective layer.
