Sag-preventing mechanism for ribbon cassette
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a sag-preventing mechanism for an ink ribbon with a stable take-up load, by a construction wherein a member pressed against an end face of a spool to brake the spool when the spool is rotated is provided on the inside of a cassette at a position facing the end face of the spool. CONSTITUTION:With printing in a line completed, a head 21 is separated from a paper 23, and after about 20-30msec, motive power supplied to a take-up spool 12 is cut off. At this time, an inertia force due to rotation and the tension of the ink ribbon 1 act on the spool 12. Though the inertia force is negligible because of the small mass of the ribbon 1 and the small rotating speed, the tension of the ribbon 1 causes the spool 12 to tends to rotate in a reverse direction. However, since a frictional force acts between an arm 14 and the spool 12, the spool 12 is not reversely rotated but is stopped. Accordingly, the ink ribbon 1 is prevented from sagging, so that it is wound uniformly, the take-up load is prevented from being increased due to nonuniform winding, and defective take-up is prevented from occurring.
