Liquid crystal display device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To permit the easy connection between a liquid crystal display element arrayed with many lead-out electrodes at extra-fine pitches and an external circuit by changing the electrode pitches in the central part and end parts along the arraying direction in such a manner that the pitches are larger at the ends in arranging the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The pitches of the lead-out electrodes 5 of the liquid crystal display element 1 are changed near the center of the element 1 and the ends of the element 1 and the electrodes are so patterned that the pitch P2 is larger than P1. The electrodes on the external circuit board are also manufactured by changing the pitches in the central part and the end parts at the same pitches as the pitches of the cell so as to correspond to said patterning. A conductive rubber connector having the fine pitches is interposed therebetween and a mechanical pressure is exerted thereto on the basis of the cell center to connect the cell and the external circuit board. The connection of the liquid crystal display element and the external circuit at the ends is made possible even with the deviation to some extent in this case because of the larger pitches at the ends and therefore the pitch deviation arising in the difference of the thermal shrinkage owing to the difference of materials between the liquid crystal display element and the external circuit board is eliminated.
