Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To shorten the interruption time of ink flow from a nozzle during the restoring operation of clogging by limiting the volume of a sub-tank with the interlocking of one end of the ink volume detector mounted on the sub-tank to a capping mechanism for nozzle clogging protection. CONSTITUTION:A pump is driven at a time when the projection 26 of an eccentric roller 16 is brought to a position (b) and ink is discharged. Thereby, the ink is discharged from a nozzle, and it is stagnated between the eccentric roller 16 and the nozzle 11. The ink detector 13 in a sub-tank 2 is biased to a lever 24 by the leaf spring adjacent to the projection 26 of a cam 22 in this time, and the bag of the sub-tank 2 is located in a position which is indicated by a dotted line and is billed less than 100% of volume. After the pump is driven, the projection 26 of the cam 22 is disengaged from the leaf spring 23, the lever 24 is returned to an original position by a spring 27, and is brought to a position indicat ed by a solid line, since the eccentric roller is rotated slowly for a purpose of the recovery of the ink from a surface of the nozzle. Thereby, a pressure of the ink volume detector 13 in the sub-tank 2 is released, and returned to the atmospheric pressure, then the discharge of the ink is stopped.
