Electrophotographic toner
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve fixability and offset resistance by using a binder copolymer obtained from a polymeric monofunctional monomer having a terminal specified ethylenically unsatd. double bond and a monomer copolymerizable with said double bond. CONSTITUTION:The binder to be used here is obtained by copolymerizing 1-50pts.wt. of a polymer having an ethylenically unsatd. double bond on only one terminal and a weight average mol.wt. of 1,000-50,000, and, preferably, having a polymer chain of styrene and/or its deriv. units in the molecule, and 50-99pts.wt. of a monomer copolymerizable with said monomer. The use of such a polymeric monomer gives side chains high in mol.wt. to the copolymer, and a large entangling effect, and accordingly, high elasticity, thus permitting the toner using the copolymer as the binder to exhibit a superior offset preventing effect, and to improve fixability, because the copolymer is not cross- linked, and good in fluidity at the time of heat melting, and consequently, suitable for the heat roll fixing process.
