Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain pilot injection over the wide range from a low to a high speed region, by setting the set pressure of an urging means, which urges a dodge plunger to the side of a plunger pressurizing chamber, in plural stages. CONSTITUTION:When a plunger 2 is in a delivery stroke, if urging force to the inverse side of a plunger pressurizing chamber 4 overcomes the urging force by the first spring 14a set by a shim 20, a dodge plunger 10, moving to the inverse side of the plunger pressurizing chamber 4, decreases a pressure in the plunger pressurizing chamber 4. Hereafter, if the plunger 2 further continues its delivery stroke, the pressure in the plunger pressurizing chamber 4 rises, and when its urging force overcomes the urging force combining together the first spring 14a and the second spring 14b set by an adjusting screw 17, the dodge plunger 10 moves, and the pressure in the plunger pressurizing chamber 4 decreases by the distance of movement of the plunger 10.
