Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an angle histogram with no effect of noise for a subject picture only by applying the binary coding to a picture having variable densities and then deciding the presence or absence of the store of an angle obtained from the binary coded signal. CONSTITUTION:Two peaks exists in a density histogram of a picture. The peak at the left side having a low density level shows a background part; a middle valley shows a boundary between the background and the noise or a subject; and the peak at the right side having a high density level shows the subject respectively. The control of noise is possible just by setting the threshold value TH at a level little higher than the valley on the density histogram. The density is set at ''0'' and ''1'' when the density is lower and higher than the value TH respectively. When the binary coding is carried out with use of the value TH, A'' and B'' are obtained at the positions near A' and B' respectively. Thus it is possible to obtain a desired histogram by setting the angle histograms at points A'' and B''.
