Room temperature-curable composition
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a compsn. which can be cured at room temp. and converted into a rubbery substance when exposed to moisture in the air so that it can be used to seal even a brittle adhered without breaking, containing an oxyalkylene polymer contg. a hydrolyzable silicon-contg. functional group at its terminal. CONSTITUTION:A room temperature-curable compsn. contains, as an active ingredient, an oxyalkylene polymer having an MW of 4,000-15,000 and contg. a silicon ether group of the formula [wherein R is a monovalent (halogenated) hydrocarbon group; a is 0, 1, 2; X is halogen, alkoxy, acyloxy, amide, acid amide, aminoxy, ketoximate etc.] at least one terminal. When this compsn. is exposed to moisture in the air, it can be cured at room temp. and converted into a rubbery substance so that this compsn. can be freed from the problem of low elongation associated with conventional one-component sealant and widely used, e.g. the compsn. can be applied to even brittle materials without breaking.
