Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a medium excellent in the performance of running and the durability by coating and curing a thermosetting resin before providing a surface lubricant layer on a ferromagetic metallic thin film so as to form a surface active layer withstanding a force arisen practically. CONSTITUTION:The surface lubricant layer 9 which can prevent impregnation of a resin liquid having a low viscosity including a lubricant in holes (generally nearly 10vol%) existing in a magnetic coating film 6 and is put to practical use is formed by coating and curing the thermosetting resin 8 before forming the surface lubricant layer 9 on the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 7. Further, this invention is effective especially when the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 7 is as thin as <=0.2mum. Moreover, in order to improve the magnetic characteristic of the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 7, the similar effect is obtained by providing a background layer made of a nonmagnetic metallic thin film having a thickness of <=0.7mum between the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 7 and the magnetic coating film 6.
