Optical character and picture input device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To input character information and picture information simultaneously as they are by providing a data demarcating part which demarcates image data into character data and picture data according to character area or picture area information. CONSTITUTION:A text 2 is conveyed from on a hopper 1 to a reading part 3 to read its information. The image signal outputted by the reading part 3 is amplified 13 and then converted by a quantizing part 14 into a binary signal, which is sent to the data demarcating part 15. The demarcating part 15 demarcates the image data into character data and picture data according to picture area information sent from a tablet controller 7. The character data demarcated by the demarcating part 15 is sent to a character recognizing part 35 for character recognition to be coded into a character code, which is outputted to an external device through an interface 36 for character data. The picture data, on the other hand, is outputted to the external device through an interface 37 for picture data.
