Telescopic steering device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To miniaturize the device by a method wherein a steering shaft is constituted of two sections extendable mutually and respective sections are held by a fixed bracket and a movable bracket while the movable bracket is advanced and retreated by the rotation of a screw. CONSTITUTION:The steering shaft 11 is constituted of a shaft 12, an outer shaft 14, connected to the shaft 12 through a joint axle 13, and an inner shaft 15, engaged with the outer shaft 14 so as to be capable of moving into the axial direction of the same shaft 14. The outer shaft 14 is supported by the fixed bracket 17 supported rotatably by a body of vehicle through bearings while the inner shaft 15 is supported rotatably through bearings to the movable bracket 18 engaged movably with the fixed bracket 17. A nut 21 is formed at one part of the movable bracket 19 and the screw, supported by the fixed bracket 17, is engaged with the nut 21. When the screw 11 is rotated by a motor 24 through gears 26, 23, the length of the steering shaft 11 may be adjusted.
