Long-acting pinacidil preparation

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:The titled pharmaceutical preparation useful for remedying hypertension, capable of prolonging effect with the same amount of medication for a long time, avoiding side effects, reducing times of medication, obtained by blending a pharmaceutical preparation with an immediate effect with a long-acting type pharmaceutical preparation in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:A pharmaceutical preparation of pinacidil (N''-cyano-N-4-pyridyl- N'-1,2,2-trimethylpropylguanidine) with an immediate effect not using a specific prolonging means is blended with a long acting type pinacidil pharmaceutical preparation containing a hydrophilic addition agent alone or it and a prolonging agent in a weight ratio of the former to the latter of (7:3)-(1:9), preferably (3:7)-(2:8). A saccharide, or cellulose derivative, is preferable as the hydrophilic addition agent used in the long-acting type pharamaceutical preparation, and a metal salt of higher fatty acid or hydrogenated fats and oils as the prolonging agent. The amount of the hydrophilic addition agent in the total amounts of the long-acting type pharmaceutical preparation is 40-90wt%, and the amount of the hydrogenated fats and oil is 2-30wt%, respectively.
