Magnetic disc device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a head and the surface of a medium by providing a head disc separating mechanism in a head disc assembly and bringing the magnetic head into non-contact with the surface of the magnetic disc medium when the operation is stopped. CONSTITUTION:The head disc separating mechanism is provided in the head disc assembly (HDA); and while the device is operated, a moving lever 8 is moved and fixed in the position of a point B of a stopper 7, and a separating arm 5 interlocking with the lever 8 is placed on the outside of a magnetic disc medium 1. At this time, a magnetic head 2 is brought into contact with the magnetic disc medium 1, and start and stop operations of contact are possible. While the device is stopped, the moving lever 8 is moved and fixed in the position of a point A of the stopper 7, and the separating arm 5 is interposed between a gimbals spring 3 and the magnetic disc medium 1, and the head 2 is detached from the medium 1. By preservation due to this separating mechanism, the effect which makes the HDA long-life is attained.
