Metallic gasket

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To aim at proper cooling for a gasket, a cylinder block and a cylinder head, by expanding a surrounding area of some beads, to be formed in and around a cooling water hole, among all beads formed on an elastic metallic plate for a metallic gasket and thereby forming a cooling water circulation void. CONSTITUTION:Beads 3 surrounding a cylinder hole 2 of a metallic gasket 1 and beads 7 surrounding an oil hole 5 are both formed around the vicinity of each hole, while beads 6 formed around the vicinity of a cooling water hole 4 is expanded wide in its surrounding area. As a result, at a surface range between a seal line by the beads 6 and another seal line by the beads 3 around the cylinder hole, cooling water becomes flowable in a clearance on a joining surface between a cylinder block 12 and a cylinder head 14. Therefore, a cooling effect can be well improved.
