Gear cutting tool
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce manufacturing cost as well as to improve pitch precision by enabling to form a tooth shape along a spiral train of cutting teeth. CONSTITUTION:Twelve cutting teeth 6 are arranged on the two helical lines with a lead angle theta along the outer periphery of a tool body 5, so as to form two trains of cutting teeth. Each cutting tooth 6 has a rack-shaped cutting edge, and is arranged in each train at a space in the direction of the rotational axis which is corresponding to the pitch P of a rack of the work piece to be cut. Each cutting tooth 6 in the two trains is positioned in the same position to each other with respect to the rotational axis, so that there are Twelve cutting teeth 6 respectively on the adjacent planes intersecting the rotational axis at right angles and spaced by the distance corresponding to the rack pitch P. Thereby, a tooth shape can be formed along the spiral train of teeth similarly to a gear hob.
