Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To execute segmentation necessary for the recognition of a three-dimensional substance at a high speed by finding out the inclination and coordinates of the surface of each closed loop area obtained by picking up the image of a substance in a three-dimensional space. CONSTITUTION:The image of the substance in the three-dimensional space is picked up by a TV camera 1 and its picture information is inputted to a straight line extracting part 4, an area extracting part 5 and a surface inclination/distance measuring part 6 through an A/D converter 2, a change-over switch SWI and a density picture processing part 3. A cross slit light projector 112 irradiates a slit light image only to a required surface on the basis of the surface information obtained from the extracting part 5 and the surface inclination/distance measuring part 6 calculates the inclination of the surface and the coordinates of the three-dimensional space on the basis of the slit light image.
