Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To form an EC display device having a long life by using a mixed solvent contg. at least one kind of solvent selected among diethylene glycol dialkyl ethers and triethylene glycol dialkyl ethers as the solvent of an electrolytic soln. CONSTITUTION:A transparent front substrate having an electrically conductive transparent film and an EC substance layer formed on the film and a rear substrate having a counter electrode are sealed along the peripheries, and an electrolyte is filled into the inside. At this time, a lithium salt is used as the electrolyte, and a mixed solvent contg. at least one kind of solvent selected among diethylene glycol dialkyl ethers and triethylene glycol dialkyl ethers represented by the formula [where each of R and R' is 1-4C alkyl, and (n) is 2 or 3] is used as an org. solvent. An EC display device having a long life can be obtd. without reducing the response speed by using said mixed solvent contg. at least one kind of solvent selected among diethylene glycol dialkyl ethers such as diethylene glycol diethyl ether and triethylene glycol dialkyl ethers besides PC or gamma-BL as the solvent of an electrolytic soln.
