Auxiliary combustion chamber type diesel engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve ignitionability as well as to maintain catalytic capacity so well, by forming a metallic intermediate layer on a wall surface inside an auxiliary combustion chamber or part of a glow plug surface, and also forming a composite oxide layer on a surface of the said intermediate layer. CONSTITUTION:A metallic intermediate layer 5 is formed on a wall surface in- side an auxiliary combustion chamber 3 or at least on a part of the surface of a a glow plug 1. A composite oxide layer 6 consisting of zirconium oxide and a metallic oxided substance selected out of a IIa subgroup or a IIa subgroup in the periodic law table of yttrium oxide, etc., is formed on the surface of the said intermediate layer. This composite oxide layer is made to carry catalytic metals such as platinum, rhodium and so on. Thus, ignitionability is improvable and, what is more, catalytic capacity can be maintained so well.
