Bi-directional repeater

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain excellent control of a bi-directional repeater and also to inform bi-directionally the state of collision by providing a delay circuit to the bi- directional repeater and using one signal to block the transmission of the other. CONSTITUTION:A signal on a bus A is amplified and relayed to a bus B via a receiver A, an AND gate A and a driver A. In this case, a signal outputted to the bus B by the driver A is inputted again to a repeater via a receiver B. The output of the AND gate A, however, passes through a time extension circuit A, is inverted by the inverter A and inputted to other input of the AND gate B. Thus, the signal inputted again from the receiver B is blocked by the AND gate B and is not returned to the bus A at all. The signal on the bus B is transmitted similarly to the bus B. If a collision takes place, it is the same as the absence of a repeater and the fact is transmitted in both directions.
