Intake/exhaust unit of internal-combustion engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the simplification of a valve drive mechanism and its follow-up performance at the time of high-speed rotation by employing a rotating valve as an intake/exhaust valve. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder head 2 is provided with cylindrical valve elements 3, 4, and the continuity from the combustion chamber to an intake hole 5 and an exhaust hole 6 is controlled by means of rotating these valve elements 3, 4 synchromously with the engine. In this way, fan-shaped openings 8, 9 are formed on the peripheral surface of the valve elements 3, 4, and, in the state that the valve elements 3, 4 are fixed to the engine, the valve open/close time can be controlled by adjusting the valve elements 3, 4 with respect to the direction of the shaft. In addition, there is no necessity for a valve spring required for a tappet valve, the fuel cost is decreased, and the valve drive mechanism can be simplified and its follow-up performance can be improved.
