Coordinate input device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To realize a quick course control and a delicate fine control by a coordinate input device provided with a ring on the circumference of the spherical surface of a ball. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of a ball 11 provided with a ring 12 on its outside circumference is detected by a sensor 13 and converted to an electric signal. In the same way, the inclined motion of the ring 12 is detected by four switches placed at equal intervals and converted to an electric signal. Subsequently, the fine control of a coordinate is executed by the output of the sensor 13 of the ball 11 so that rough movement of the coordinate is executed by the output of the switch 14. Also, the ring 12 is placed on the outside circumference of the ball, in case where the course control is executed in the direction of production of the operating direction of the ball 11, an operator's hand rotates the ball 11, and at a position where it is abutted by pressure on the ring 12 by its remaining force, and the ring 12 is inclined and moved as it is, by which the fine control can be executed by the simple operation.
