Rear wheel steering mechanism for front/rear wheel steering car

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable variable control to the rear wheel steering characteristic optimal to the travel condition at any time, by providing an actuator for varying the effective lever ratio in accordance to various travel conditions. CONSTITUTION:An actuator 24 comprised of telescopable member such as solenoid or cylinder system is provided between a link 20 and chassis side member 25 where the link 20 is rotated around the jointing point to the chassis side member 25 through function actuator 24 to move the leading edge of link 20' in an elongated hole 18a' of lever 18 thus to vary the engaging point between the link 20 and lever 18. The rear wheel steering characteristic from inphase steering to reverse phase steering of front/rear wheel is determined by the movement C of the rear gear case 14 itself, where the effective length l1 is varied by functioning the actuator 24 thereby varying the position of leading edge section 20' thus to control variably to the level optimal for travel condition.
