Heat-resistant hard sintered alloy
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the titled sintered alloy having superior characteristics at high temp. by specifying the composition of an alloy consisting of a hard phase consisting of the boride of a IVa, Va, or VIa group metal in the periodic table and TiC and a binding phase of an Fe group metal and by regulating the amount of B in the alloy. CONSTITUTION:This heat-resistant hard sintered alloy consists of, by weight, 40-90% hard phase consisting of 10-30% borides of one or more kinds of metals selected among the IVa, Va and VIa group metals in the periodic table and the balance TiC, 60-10% binding phase of one or more kinds of Fe group metals, and inevitable impurities. The amount of B in the alloy is regulated to <=3% so as to prevent the reduction of the toughness. The alloy is suitable for use as a material for a tool receiving relatively high stress and a high shock at high temp. and requiring wear and heat resistances. One or more kinds of compounds selected among the carbides, carbonitrides and nitrides of the IVa group metals in the periodic table may be substituted for <=30% of TiC in the hard phase, and one or more kinds of VIa group metals in the periodic table may be substituted for <=50% of the binding phase metals.
