Steering mechanism of front-wheel-drive vehicle

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make the movement of a tie rod and a pitman arm smooth by installing each steering member of a power steering mechanism in a front accelerator housing and a fixed and a rotating-side gear case. CONSTITUTION:A rotating-side gear case 10 is fitted in each fixed-side gear case 7 provided on the outside of the right and left sides of a front accelerator housing 4. A front-wheel drive shaft 13 drives a front-wheel shaft 9 through a gearing 25 installed in the gear cases 7, 10. The outside part of a steering drive shaft 30 is interlocked with a steering shaft 37, which is provided concentrically with the center of the steering rotation and fixed to the rotating-side gear case 10, by means of a driven side bevel gear mechanism 41 installed in the fixed side gear case 7. Also, the output shaft 27 of a power steering mechanism 26 is interlocked with the inside parts of the right and left steering dirve shafts 30 by means of a driving side bevel gear mechanism 35.
