Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a high-molecular membrane good in oxygen selectivity and having heat resistance, by using a high-molecular material having fine pores and an org. polar material having permselective function with the phase change caused by the change in temp. CONSTITUTION:As a support, a porous film material comprising polycarbonate with m.p. of 150 deg.C or more and having proper mechanical strength and showing oxygen permeability of P>=10<-7> alone is pref. used. As a coating material having permselective function, a nematic liquid crystal is pref. used. Because this coating material generates liquid crystal transition at a certain temp. and the molecular arrangement thereof is aligned in the long axis direction thereof parallelly and uniformly, permeability of a gas molecule is enhanced. With due regard to that the coating material has liquid crystal transition temp. of an ambient temp.-70 deg.C and has oxygen compatibility and is large in a selection ratio, an azo-methyl type, an ester type and an azo type liquid crystal compounds are appropriately selected.
