Electrophotographic wet type toner
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To render a wet type toner usable for various transfer systems by dispersing toner particles into an electrically insulating liquid to form an electrophotograhic wet type toner, dispersing a pigment into a polyolefin resin having carbonyl groups, and selecting said insulating liquid not dissolving said polyolefin having carbonyl groups. CONSTITUTION:As the polyolefin resin having carbonyl groups, a polyolefin resin modified to introduce carboxyl groups, a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic or methacrylic acid, or ionomer obtained by further cross-linking them, etc. are used. As the pigment, known org. and inorg. pigments are used. As the insulating liquid, liquid n-paraffin hydrocarbon, iso-paraffin hydrocarbon, etc. are used. As the dispersant of the toner particles, anionic, cationic, amphoteric, and nonionic surfactants are usable. The wet type toner thus obtained does not cause staining of a photosensitive plate and can be used repeatedly for a dispersion type photosensitive plate, because a fixing resin is not dissolved in a solvent. Since the pigment is dispersed into a resin insoluble in a solvent, an amt. of pigment particles is small, and hence, staining of background is also small.
