Method for controlling built-in magnetic disc

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To control many kinds of magnetic discs by the same method by storing the physical information peculiar to a magnetic disc previously in a fixed area of the magnetic disc medium. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disc medium 1 is provided with a physical information storing area 6 storing the physical information peculiar to the magnetic disc concerned previously at its fixed area, and the information such as the capacity of the magnetic disc, the number of cylinders, the number of heads, and the number of sectors is set up in the storing area 6. If an electric power supply is turned on and the magnetic disc device 1 is ready, a control table initializing part 8 is started once, reads the information indicating the physical constitution peculiar to the magnetic disc to form a disc controlling table 3, and then controls the magnetic disc device 1 while referring the disc controlling table 3 in the system working status.
