Production of elastomeric composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To produce the titled compsn. having excellent flexibility, heat distortion resistance, mechanical strength and moldability, by blending a partially crosslinked product of a peroxide-crosslinkable olefin copolymer rubber with a hydrogenated product of a specified block copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A peroxide-crosslinkable olefin copolymer rubber having a Mooney viscosity of 10-120 and an iodine value of 5-20 is heat-treated in the presence of an org. peroxide to obtain a partially crosslinked product. 20- 150pts.wt. said product, 0-50pts.wt. hydrocarbon rubbery material which is not crosslinkable with peroxide, 80-300pts.wt. softener for non-aromatic rubber, 30- 400pts.wt. peroxide-decomposition type olefin resin and 0-900pts.wt. inorg. filler are blended with 100pts.wt. hydrogenated derivative of a block copolymer of the formula, wherein A is a polymer block of a monovinyl-substd. arom. hydrocarbon, B is an eleastomeric polymer block of a conjugated diene and n is 1-5.
