Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To read exactly information with simple constitution by setting a threshold level basing on the photoelectric converting output of the threshold level information written in a specified area on a business form, and setting a slice level in accordance with the drop-out color of a character and a character frame on the business form. CONSTITUTION:Medium information is read by a read head H provided with a charge coupled elemnt, and its information is amplified by an amplifier A and is inputted to a binary-coding circuit N. The read information from this amplifier A is inputted to a having an inputted format signal to open the gate only in the course of reading an area R1 painted out by the same writing instument as that for a character written by the head H in a character frame J, and the read signal of the area R1 is inputted to an output deciding part K. Subsequently, slice level based on the read signal level of the area R1 is set by a slice level setting circuit S, an adequate slice level corresponding to the character written in the character frame J is obtained to read the information exactly with simple constitution.
