Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable to print any kind of characters with a small capacity of memory, by a method wherein a plurality of font cassettes each of which incorporates a memory for a character generator are provided one for each kind of characters, and one of the cassettes is selected and is fitted to a bus line. CONSTITUTION:A CPU1 operates in accordance with a program stored in a memory 2, receives printing data from a host system through an interface part 5, stores the data into a printing buffer, and outputs a controlling signal to a head-controlling part 6 and a motor-controlling part 7 to effect a character- printing operation. The font cassette 4 incorporates the memory 3 for the character generator corresponding to a kind of types, and is so provided that it can be detachably fitted to the bus line 8. The font cassettes are provided for respective kinds of characters, and the cassette 4 for a desired kind of characters is fitted when printing.
