Seat belt retractor
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the feeling of putting-on of a seat belt and heighten safety, by using a motor to wind the belt and by winding the belt to make it tight after the putting-on of the belt and by giving a prescribed looseness to the belt after the tight winding, and by effecting looseness-giving control depending on the speed of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A worm wheel 16 is rotated through transmission means 19- 22 by a motor 18 secured on the upper part of a housing 11, to turn a winding shaft 12 for a belt 1. The motor 18 is controlled by a central processing unit 24 through a transistor bridge circuit 27 so that the motor is rotated forward or backward. The CPU24 includes a comparator which compares a set value corresponding to a prescribed looseness of the belt 1, with the output of a displacement detector 23 which detects the displacement of the belt. The direction of rotation of the motor 18 is controlled on the basis of the outputs of the comparator and a putting-on detector 52. The prescribed looseness is given to the belt 1 when it is judged from the output of a vehicle speed sensor 51 that the vehicle speed is higher than a prescribed level.
