Optical character reader
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To shorten the data correcting time, by displaying a candidate character which is referred to in a recognizing process of a character decided unreadable by an OCR on a CRT and feeding a correct answer data by a finger after putting a transparent coordinate detecting plate on the CRT. CONSTITUTION:A character, etc. is scanned optically by an OCR reading device (not shown in the figure) and input to a CPU after photoelectric conversion and recognition. The CPU performs an operation to display 2 the characters, etc. on a CRT 1. If an unreadable character exists, it is shown by a mark ''?'' on the CRT 1. Then a cursor 4 is set at the position of ''?'', and at the same time candidate characters 6 which are referred to in a character recognizing process are displayed together with a picture 5 of the unreadable character. An operator put a transparent coordinate detecting plate 11 on the CRT 1 and selects a correct data (''KU'' in the figure) among candidate characters 6 and from the picture 5 or the characters on a forms. The correct data is fed with a finger touch, and ''?'' is replaced with ''KU'' via a control mechanism 12. This facilitates an easy correction of data and decreases the data processing time.
