Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To always secure high reading performance, by detecting the deterioration of a fluorescent lamp and to inform the time of replacement of the fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal delivered from an image sensor 6 is amplified up to a prescribed level by an amplifier 7 and applied to a peak holding circuit 8 as well as to a shading distortion compensating circuit 9. The picture signal compensated by the circuit 9 is converted into a signal of a binary level by a binary coding circuit 10 and transmitted. Both picture signal and output of the circuit 8 are supplied to a shading distortion level detecting circuit 11. An output signal is generated when the shading distortion exceeds a prescribed level to drive an informing circuit 12. When a fluorescent lamp is deteriorated, the shading distortion increases. Therefore it is possible to understand the deteriorating state of the fluorescent lamp by the circuit 12.
