Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a vertical contouring component having no leakage of chrominance signal components, by separating the vertical contouring component from a digital video signal with a comb line filter and removing the chrominance components through an LPF. CONSTITUTION:A vertical contouring component is produced by a 2TH delay circuit 126 and vertical contouring circuit 701 and can be regarded as a cascade connection of a vertical HPF 801 and LPF 807 constituting a comb line filter. A digital video signal 110 is constituted at the 2TH delay circuit 126, to which 1TH delay circuits 402 and 403 are cascade-connected, coefficient multipliers 802-804, and an adder 805 and passed through a filter, whose gain becomes ''0'' when its frequency (f) is nfH (fH is horizontal frequency) and ''1'' when the frequency (f) is (n+1/2)fH. A 2TS delay circuit TS passes an LPF of a band of about 1MHz constituted by sampling periods 808-811, coefficient multipliers 812-816, and a adding circuit 817 and removes chrominance components. The LPF passed through the delay circuit TS is multiplied by a vertical contouring control signal 704 and a vertical contouring signal 708 is obtained.
