Cooler for centrifugal casting die
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To permit easy discharging of gas such as steam from the inside of a water passage for cooling water and to improve the cooling effect of a centrifugal casting die by forming the water passage for cooling said die constituted of the die and a metallic flask on the outside thereof into the shape of a specific construction. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water passage 4 for cooling a centrifugal casting die 1 is formed between the die and a metallic flask 2 on the outside thereof, and a draining device 6 for cooling water is mounted in the end part thereof. The passage 4 in this case is segmented to a heat exchange region 4A and a gas removal passage 4B, and the distance R1 from the axial line O of rotation of the die 1 and the flask 2 up to the wall surface 43 on the inside circumferential side of the passage 4B is made smaller than the distance R2 from the axis O up to the wall surface 44 on the inside circumferential side of the region 4A. The gas such as steam generated on evaporation of the cooling water is migrated by centrifugal force to the inner side of the liquid such as cooling water in the region 4A and since the gas is discharged from the passage 4B to the device 6, no gas is present in the region 4A and the cooling of the die 1 is effectively accomplished.
