Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To mass-produce a crystal with a cleavage plane of the high degree of smoothness easily by forming a short V-groove-shaped flaw in the direction parallel with a crystallographical plane and weighting a columnar bar body placed so as to run parallel with the crystallographical plane in the vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:The short V-groove-shaped flaws 14 in parallel with a minimum stress surface are prepared at the end section of a crystalline thin piece 12 with a main surface 11 cut so as to be vertically oriented crystallographically to the minimum stress surface for a cleavage by using a wedge-shaped or needle-shaped jig 13. The columnar bar body 21 is placed so as to run parallel with the minimum stress surface 22 for the cleavage, and turned on the crystalline thin piece 11, and the minimum stress surface for the cleavage is prepared as a cut end 22 while using the short V-groove-shaped flaws 14 as base points. Weighting applied through the columnar bar body can be applied uniformly from end to end of a crystal in the direction that the cleavage plane must be prepared, and a split and a breaking are propagated completely from end to end in the crystal. The crystals 23 with the mutually parallel two cut ends separated only by the interval of the short V-groove-shaped flaws prepared at a specific interval are manufactured.
