Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable arbitrary control of a fuel injection rate according to operating conditions, by interconnecting an accumulate piston with a control piston, and varying the relative distance between a control hole and a control surface. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a low speed operating range, if the distance between a control hole 8a and a control surface 7a is set to a large value through movement of a control cylinder 8 by means of a step motor 11, a quantity of the injected fuel decreases according to said value. In which case, the position of a spil ring is set to that the injection period during a low speed operation becomes longer than that during a middle or a high speed operation. This enables lengthening of the injection period without changing the injection quantity during a low speed operation from that of a conventional type. In the middle and the high speed range, movement of the control cylinder 8 by means of the step motor 11 reduces the axial distance between the control hole 8a and the control surface 7a of a control piston 7, and decreases the moving distance of an accumulate piston 10.
