Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make reading by bar code scanner impossible by a method in which when switching and setting are made to non-addition mode, the value of modular check characters of a bar code, corresponding to printing data, is changed to a value different from normal value. CONSTITUTION:When addition mode is switched to non-addition mode by a mode switcher 3, CPU1 responds to it, processing corresponding to a program from a program memory 4 for the mode is made and counting by a counting memory 5 is stopped. CPU2 also responds to CPU1, the reading of ROM9 for a character generator is controlled by a program corresponding to the mode of the program memory 8, and the value of modular check character in the bar code corresponding to printing data set in the printing buffer 10 becomes a value different from normal value. Therefore, bar code printed by the label printer for practice can not be read by the bar code scanner and labels become null practically, thus preventing unjust use of the bar code.
