Fuel composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel composition having improved octane value and power output characteristics and low toxicity, by adding menthadiene or vegetable oil composed mainly thereof as an agent for improving octane value or as a fuel to a gasoline fuel. CONSTITUTION:The objective fuel composition is prepared by mixing (A) a fuel having a boiling point range of gasoline (preferably having sulfur-content of <=0.02wt% and an octane value of <=85, e.g. straight-run gasoline, etc.) with (B) menthadiene or a vegetable oil composed mainly thereof (preferably an oil containing limonene as main component, e.g. orange oil) as an octane value improving agent and/or fuel. The weight ratio of the component (A) to (B) is 90:10-70:30. EFFECT:Low concentrations of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas after combustion.
