Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To contrive to improve durability of the bearing and reduce the weight thereof by providing an auxiliary bearing on the inner side of a valve located on the outermost side with respect to the bearing of the cam shaft in an engine provided with a plurality of valves in at least one passage on the suction side or the exhaust side. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary bearing 27' is disposed in a cam shaft part 24a between cams 25 and 25, and the end portion of the cam shaft 24 is supported by the bearing 27'. Simularly as other bearing 27, this auxiliary bearing 27' is a half bearing. The cam shaft bearing is constructed in such a manner that the end portion of the cam shaft is supported by the auxiliary bearing and the bearing is located on the side inner than the valve located at the outermost side. Accordingly, it is possible to shorten the distance between the cam and the auxiliary bearing. Therefore, there is no possibility that the cam shaft is bent, and the diameter of the shaft can be reduced and the durability of the bearing can be improved. Further, since the length of the cylinder head can be reduced, reduction of the weight cam be realized.
