Amorphous iron alloy with high strength
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an amorphous alloy with enhanced heat resistance and mechanical strength by specifying the amounts of Cr, C or B, P, and C+P or B+P in an Fe-C-P or Fe-B-P alloy. CONSTITUTION:A molten alloy is sprayed on the inside of a drum rotating at a high speed in an inert atmosphere and cooled at a very high cooling rate to obtain an amorphous alloy. At this time, the alloy is composed of, by atom, 1- 40% Cr, >=2% C or B, >=5% P (C+P or B+P=30-35%) and the balance Fe. Less than the lower limit of Cr produces an insignificant effect of improving the heat resistance, and in case of more than the upper limit of Cr, the amorphous structure is not obtd. In case of less than the lower limit of C or B, the amorphous structure is not obtd. In case of less than the lower limit of P, it is difficult to obtain the amorphous structure. In case of more than the upper limit of C+P or B+P, it is difficult to obtain the amorphous structure, and the reason that the amount of C+P or B+P is regulated to >=30% is that an application for a patent on an alloy having the structural range has been made.
