Formation of electrolyte layer for fused carbonate fuel battery
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a large-sized thin matrix plate having large strength by adding binder into a mixture consisting of carbonate and matrix basic material and forming said mixture to a thin plate form through kneading and rolling processes. CONSTITUTION:40g of gamma-LiAlO2 and 60g of mixed carbonate are mixed sufficinetly in iso-butyl alcohol. 2g of polytetrafluoroethylene powder is added into the above mixture and mixed sufficiently, and then the solvent is removed until the mixture possesses a desired viscosity, and the product is procesed for 1hr with a kneader. The obtained substance is formed to a thin plate form having a thickness of 0.4mm. throaph a rolling process, and dried at 100 deg.C for 5hr. The obtained molded body 3 is used as an electrolyte layer, and an Ni-Cr sintered body 1 is used as an anode, and a Ni sintered body 2 is used as a cathode, and a single cell is constituted in a sandwich structure of each unit described the above. As the electrolyte in the present invention is in a thinner film form in 0.3-1.0mm. in comparison with the conventional in 1-3mm. and uniformalized, the internal resistance of the cell is reduced, and a battery having superior characteristics can be obtained.
