Tape width measuring apparatus for thin tape
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable a highly accurate measurement of the tape width by bringing a detection member rotatable and free to move axially into contact with a roller shorter than the tape width in the tap feeding course from both sides to detect axial displacement thereof in a contactless manner. CONSTITUTION:A roller 1 is provided in a tape feeding course and a tape X to be measured is fed at a high speed in contact with the outer surface thereof. The roller is made so shorter than the width of the tape X to bring detecting sections 2A and 2B into contact with the side ends of the tape X. The detecting sections 2A and 2B are supported coaxially with the roller 1 in such a manner as to rotate and free to displace axially with respect to the roller 1. At the cylindrical end thereof, axial displacement accompanied by changes in the width of the tape X is transmitted to a disc part and is detected as variations in the electrostatic capacity between electrodes P11 and P12 and P21 and P22 provided near the disc section.
