Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain required detecting width even in case of short range by using an antenna having narrow beam width and an auxiliar antenna having wide beam width. CONSTITUTION:When an antenna is fed with an output from an oscillator OSC, a sharp directional beam is outputted from an antenna ANT1 transmitting a large output, and a reflected wave from a distant car is received by an antenna ANT2. A part of the power from the osciallator OSC through a directional coupler is beat-srocassed in a mixer MIX together with a local electric power to determine the relative distance of the distant car. In the same manner, the power from the oscillator OSC is branched and applied to a transmission/reception auxiliary antenna ANT3 generating wide angle and a weak beam by reversed coupling to detect required beam width, and pricesely detect a forward near car even when the car deviates from its advancing direction, preventing the car from clashing or the like.
