Mechanical displacement detecting device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To precisely measure a mechanical displacement without being affected by an external environment, by using a bundle fiber, and detecting the mechanical displacement as a variation of coupling of an optical fiber array. CONSTITUTION:A pulselike optical signal from an optical fiber 1 is projected to a total reflection mirror 3 through a condensing optical system 2. Its reflected ray is made incident to one optical fiber of an optical fiber train of a bundle fiber 4, for instance, A'. On the other hand, the total reflection mirror 3 is constituted so that it can be varied back and forth, to the left and right, and also up and down by being interlocked with a substance to be measured. Also, when the mirror 3 is positioned at points B, C shown by a broken line, its reflected ray is made incident to B' and C' of the bundle fiber 4. Accordingly, by converting it to an electric signal and taking out it, the mechanical displacement can be measured precisely without being affected by an external environment, for instance, without being subjected to a bad influence of an electromagnetic field, etc.
