Brush wear detection device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable to detect the wearing amounts of a plurality of brushes with a set of a light emitting unit and a photodetector by shielding the light to the photodetector by the drop of a pressing lever when the brush reaches the prescribed wearing amount. CONSTITUTION:The light from a light emitting unit 3 is received by a photodetector 4 until a brush 2 reaches its prescribed wearing amount and hence the wearing limit. When any one of aligned brushes 2 reaches the wearing limit, a pressing lever 13 which presses the brush is lowered, the light from the unit 3 is shielded by the lowered lever 13, and the light does not reach the photodetector 4. Thus, the wearing amount of the brush 2 can be detected by the output of the photodetector 4.
