Control device of power steering unit

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To control the steering characteristics optionally by feeding or exhausting the pressure fluid to a power cylinder with a four-way open center type solenoid valve of a power steering unit so as to contol this valve in accordance with control input conditions such as the handle angle, etc. CONSTITUTION:A handle 11 rotates a pinion 13 through a torsion bar 12 to move a rack 15. A power cylinder 17 is fitted to the rack 15 and it is actuated by the pressure fluid fed or exhausted by a four-way open center type solenoid valve 20. A handle angle sensor 18 is provided on the handle shaft 10 and a steering angle sensor 19 is provided on the pinion 13, then these signals are processed with a microcomputer to control the valve 20. The microcomputer controls the valve based on signals from individual sensors and a car speed signal, thereby the steering characteristics can be set optionally.
